Play Leaders and Buddies

At St. Leonard's we have two key Year 6 leadership teams. 

Play Leaders - These children are trained to organise and run activities for other children during lunchtimes. 

Buddies - These children are trained to be a supportive friend at lunchtime. They might help children to join in with games with others or help children to organise their own activities. 

Each week, children and staff vote the for their play leader and buddy of the week. The children awarded are those who have demonstrated fantastic leadership skills and who have engaged lots of children in their activities.

They each set up and demonstrated an activity and awarded lots of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place stickers throughout the day.

A new school year means new equipment! After some refresher training for our play leaders, they immediately started to engage lots of children back into our daily activities. Basketball is certainly a popular choice! 

Our play leaders and buddies have worked extremely hard to deliver various activities for the other children in school. These include hockey, penalty shootouts, basketball, obstacle courses and much more! Here are some of our children that have been awarded 'play leaders and buddies of the week' this half term.
