Music Enrichment

Year 5 Brass Tuition

Our Lancashire Music Service (LMS) provision includes whole-class practical instrumental music-making for our Year 5, as part of their curriculum entitlement, through their Wider Opportunities Scheme.  Through the scheme, all our children are loaned (free of charge) an instrument (trumpet, cornet, baritone) for a whole year and receive weekly expert tuition from a LMS teacher.  The children are given the opportunity to showcase their instrument learning, to their families, through two concerts during the year.

Let's Go Sing!

Year 3&4 performing on stage at King George's Hall, Blackburn.

Young Voices 2025

Our Year 6 pupils are excited to be taking part in the world's largest children's choir concert in February 2025. We will be taking part in the Young Voices concert at Co-op Live arena along with almost 9000 other primary school children from across the North-West.

Junior Choir

At St. Leonard's we have a proud tradition of singing and our Junior Choir have sung at Blackburn Cathedral, at the Bishop of Blackburn's installation and even at a staff member's wedding. We meet every Thursday lunchtime and the children are wonderfully enthusiastic about learning new songs and performing them either in church or at different events. This year, we are looking forward to singing at Blackburn Cathedral on the 13th of December - it is always a really magical experience for the children and also the audience.
